Evo Japan 2024 champion MenaRD gets new Street Fighter 6 Blanka-inspired hairdo in honor of character he won the tournament with

Bandits|MenaRD made history late last month by taking 1st place in Street Fighter 6 at the giant major fighting game tournament, Evo Japan 2024. Using a combination of Luke and Blanka throughout the event (though he closed grand finals out with the latter), Mena became one of the only players to ever win both Capcom Cup (he won it twice) and an Evo event.

In the past, the Dominican champion has been known to get his hair styled in a way that is relative to his fighting game career. This time, Mena has returned with a fresh cut that is meant to resemble Blanka’s own hair in Street FIghter 6 — and it looks clean as hell.

While Mena’s main character in Street Fighter 6 has been Luke, he has also pioneered Blanka as an active secondary. Mena has been one of, if not, the best Blanka player in the world, putting the character on the map in a lot of ways and taking out numerous top level competitors with him as well.

Though he’s definitely played as Luke more in tournaments, Mena is known for his incredible Blanka here in Street Fighter 6. It looks like Mena might also like the character a bit more than his actual main considering his new hair cut.

Speaking of which, Mena shared a couple of photos of his new do over on Twitter today. “The Blanka Hairstyle ” he wrote as he provides some different angles of the new hairstyle.

Like Blanka, Mena has the sides of his head mostly shaved with a tuft of hair on top. Adding some unique flourishes, though, Mena also has a sharp line up connecting his facial hair and his new hairstyle together making for a slick look overall.

Back in July 2022, Mena shared how he was preparing for the major Evo 2022 event that was taking place the next month. Part of his preparation involved getting a haircut that saw the Evo tournament logo shaved into it.
