Thaiger Uppercut 2024, a tournament happening this weekend, is the final Tekken 8 Master Event for the Tekken World Tour 2024. Needless to say, there’s some fierce competition present at the tournament this year.
RB|Arslan Ash, Evo 2024 champion and second seed for the event after KDF|Ulsan, has been one of the favorites to win the whole event leading up to this weekend. However, in a surprising turn of events, Arslan Ash was sent to the losers bracket by Patloars, the 31st seed of the tournament.
During their encounter, Arslan Ash was playing as Nina while Patloars took him on with Lili. Both characters have traditionally been considered to be fairly strong throughout Tekken 8’s meta, though Nina is generally recognized to be the stronger of the two.
Regardless, Patloars was able to beat Arslan Ash in the first game of the set. Things were close in the second set as both players just needed a round over one another to win, but Patloars, with just a sliver of life keeping Lili alive, was able to mount an amazing comeback and thwart Arslan Ash’s attempt at tying the set.
Later on, Arslan Ash released a Tweet noting how Lili, especially her D3+4 and U3+4, might be due for some nerfs in the next patch. Of course, it should be noted that Arslan Ash appears to be half joking here.
Can’t believe Lili’s D3+4 whiffed my SS1. There’s still so much to learn in Tekken

Can we please get lili nerfed in the next patch as well
Especially her d3+4 and u3+4 or may be everything. https://t.co/qj2oOlIuiY— Arslan Ash (@ArslanAsh95) October 5, 2024
At this point in the tournament, Arslan Ash is still a strong contender to win the whole event as he’s currently sitting in the top 48 on the losers side of the bracket. Of course, this could ultimately mean that he’ll have a rematch with Patloars, who still resides on the winners side of the top 48.
We’ll just have to see how things play out from here, but it certainly would be interesting to see a rematch happen between these two before the tournament’s conclusion.
