Evo 2025 is of course coming back this Summer as the largest fighting game event of the year, and if the trend continues, it could be the biggest tournament ever.
The organizers for the event just revealed the new entrant leaderboard for Evo 2025 ranking all eight mainstage fighting games being featured including some new and old faces.
They unsurprisingly won’t be sharing the exact number of players who signed up until registration closes in the coming months, but we can get a bit of an idea as to how things are shaping up currently.
Another thing that probably won’t come as a shock is Street Fighter 6 is at the very top, which it’s had since the game released in 2023.
For Evo 2024, the final entrant numbers for SF6 was a whopping 5,265 players, so it’ll be interesting to see if it can match or beat that again.
Tekken 8 is once again in second place for its second year where it pulled in 4,646 players previously for the big event.
Guilty Gear Strive has actually been bumped out of the third slot for a new / returning face to the scene.
It seems the hype for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is real since it has the bronze medal currently for its first Evo outing.
1. Street Fighter 6
2. Tekken 8
3. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
4. Guilty Gear Strive
5. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
6. Marvel vs. Capcom 2
7. Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys:Celes
8. Mortal Kombat 1
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has also been bumped down a spot because of that too.
Depending on the actual numbers, this year’s classic title Marvel vs. Capcom 2 may not be performing quite as well as 2024’s Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, which managed to bring in just over 1,100 players for an unforgettable bracket.
Under Night In-Birth 2 is down a rank as well from last year, but it’s still not at the bottom.
That honor currently goes to Mortal Kombat 1 in 8th place, which pulled in just 645 competitors for its first Evo.
Considering this is the game’s second year, those numbers may be even lower here in 2025.
Evo 2024 set a record for the most entrants ever at an eSports event in general with over 9,182 unique players, so we’ll see if this year can beat that.
Evo 2025 is set to take place from August 1–3 in Las Vegas, Nevada while there’s also Evo Japan in May, Evo France in October and Evo Singapore at a to be announced time.
