The venue itself should be fine when staying indoors but outside weather could prove hazardous
It’s the most exciting week of the year for fighting game fans with Evo 2024 just on the horizon as the largest eSports event ever, but those attending are going to need to take some extra precautions to stay safe from the final boss waiting outside.
Las Vegas, Nevada is currently facing a record-breaking heatwave that’s beyond sizzling for even residents used to the valley area weather and shows zero signs of cooling down the rest of this week or this weekend.
After hitting at least 115 degrees Fahrenheit / 46 Celsius for seven straight days and reaching 120 Fahrenheit / 49 Celsius on July 7 (both records for the city), the weather is going to remain dangerously hot in the area just in time for Evo.
According to the current forecast from Weather.com, Las Vegas is shown to be hitting at least 111 Fahrenheit / 44 Celsius for high temperatures during all three days of the event from July 19–21 (not including any additional heat index) along with at least 110 Fahrenheit on the surrounding days through at least next Tuesday, July 23.
The organizers of Evo and managers of the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall have the experience and know-how to provide a cool and comfortable environment for all 10,000+ attendees, so hopefully there shouldn’t prove to be any real problems while staying indoors there.
On top of that, every Evo guest is said to receive a complimentary water bottle upon first checking into the large event center with free refill stations present near each restroom.
There will also be the on-site food court and vending machines although outside food is still prohibited.
The official venue map has also been released that attendees should familiarize themselves with beforehand too.
Attendees will need to take extra precautions when traveling to and from the venue as well as any other locations in the area, which may already face closure with the extreme heat.

Make sure to have trip routes and rides planned out ahead of time.
Walking outside and traveling by foot is not advised and should be avoided if possible.
Heat exhaustion or even heat stroke can occur from as little as 10 minutes of exposure according to the CDC, so limit time spent outside and in the direct sunlight.
How it’s going to feel outside of the venue every day
Even the nights won’t prove to be much better, however, with low temperatures remaining at 90 Fahrenheit / 32 Celsius across all three nights of the event according to current forecasts.
If planning to travel to other locations besides the convention center and hotel, check and make sure they are open during the heatwave before going.
Although Evo should be providing more than enough free water for everyone, it would still be a very good idea to travel with extra water on hand and know where to get more if needed.
Despite these heat warnings, Evo itself is shaping up to be an amazing time for fighting game fans at the new and expanded venue no matter if they’re competing, cosplaying, hanging out, shopping the artist alley or just watching from home.
The Evo Showcase is set to help kick off the festivities on Friday with panels, shows and exhibitions all scheduled where we should receive some new announcements as well before the tournament finals on Saturday and Sunday.
We hope everyone planning to attend Evo this year has the time of their lives, but also that all of you remain safe and healthy before, during, and after the experience.
