Riot’s highly anticipated 2XKO still doesn’t have an official release date, but a number of lucky fans will be able to play it this coming week via the Alpha Lab, a closed alpha test in which participants will get a taste of developing 2XKO experience.
Things are set to kick off on August 8 and run until August 19 when servers shut back down. Continue on to learn more about what specifically will be available and how to access it.
First off, 2XKO is very much still in development and so it’d be in error to expect a completely smooth experience. From gameplay movements to visuals on the heads up display, things are not going to be perfectly in place just quite yet.
Those who register for the Alpha Lab (registration closes shortly after the test goes live) will have a chance to be selected, but the first round of invites won’t go out until 1 p.m. Pacific Time on August 8, so that’s when you should pull up your email and start refreshing.
The test will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC across a few different regions including US, Canada, UK, France, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico. Please note that players will only be able to play with others within their own region, but those who do get in will get a code to invite a friend along with them.
Offline play will not be available, but participants will be privy to six characters (Ahri, Darius, Braum, Ekko, Yasuo, and Illaoi) and four stages (Spirit Hills, Bridge of Progress, Brazen Hydra, and Scuttler’s Strand).

The test will include some content that will be locked behind the game’s Battle Pass when it actually launches in 2025, but players will be able to unlock 20 levels worth of said Battle Pass content while they fight their way through Alpha Lab.
Any and all progress will be lost when Alpha Lab ends, so players will not be able to hold on to any extra content they unlock.
This content will include avatar emojis and accessories, stickers, and alternate skins Bladesong Yasuo and Dynasty Ahri. Playing through available daily missions will help you rack up in game currency (credits), here’s a quick video of what unlocking this content looks like:
Cross play will be available over the game’s server-based rollback netcode, and users will have access to training mode with others. Here’s an example of what matching up with an opponent in 2XKO’s lobbies will look like:
