Fears of a first relegation in over 70 years became very real for Everton fans as the Toffees finished the weekend in the bottom three.
A defeat to Liverpool, plus Burnley’s win over Wolves, saw Frank Lampard’s men slip into the drop zone with just six matches to play of the season.

Everton have a game in hand on 17th-placed Burnley, plus they had good moments against the title-chasing Liverpool having been denied a penalty early in the second half.
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane was fortunate to stay on the pitch for raising his hands at two Toffees players on the stroke of half time.
But the fact Everton dropped into the relegation zone at such a late stage of the season sums up just what a woeful campaign it’s been.
The likes of Newcastle, Leeds, Aston Villa and West Ham have showed no one’s too big to go down, however, Jamie Carragher believes Everton would be the biggest team in Premier League history to ever suffer relegation.
