The Capcom Pro Tour 2024 Super Premier Japan is an absolutely stacked Street Fighter 6 tournament that’s happening this weekend. There are over 1,250 players competing for one of the two Capcom Cup 2024 spots which includes the likes of CR|Shuto, Xiaohai, HB|Kawano, IBSG|Kakeru, RB|Gachikun, AMG|Kobayan, DFM|Itabashi Zangief, Nephew, Saishunkan|Higuchi, Rohto|Tokido, Victrix|Momochi, Mouz|EndingWalker, BST|Fuudo, BST|Daigo, DRX|Leshar, Falcons|NL, VARREL|Moke, DFM|John Takeuchi, Falcons|DCQ, KC|Kilzyou, KSG|Zhen, FNATIC|Chris Wong, and many more.
As always, we’re inclined to take a closer look at the characters that are succeeding at these sort of events. With that in mind, we can clearly see which characters are the most relevant in the current meta based on the top 256 and top 128 performing players.
In the top 256, M. Bison ended up being the most popular combatant with 27 players using him. Akuma ended up taking second place with 26 representing him.
M. Bison only fell off a little bit in the top 128 with 18 M. Bison mains remaining, but this was enough for the 19 remaining Akuma users to overtake the Shadaloo dictator. Ed ended up taking third place in the top 128, which really indicates just how strong DLC feels in Street Fighter 6 right now.
Though Zangief recently received some nerfs in the Terry Bogard patch, the character has still seen a lot of success at this super premier. Counting secondaries, 18 players used him in the top 256 while eight remained going into the top 128.
While some characters are certainly stronger than others (which results in them seeing more representation), it’s worth noting that every character in Street Fighter 6 is seeing play in the top 128. This suggests that the game is at least somewhat in a good place right now in terms of how balanced the roster is.
