Hashiras manifest the Demon Slayer mark once their physical prowess is at its peak. They must also survive the situation that comes before the awakening. For instance, a Hashira’s heart starts beating at a very fast rate and the body temperature goes beyond expectation, i.e., 39 degrees Celcius.
So, not every Hashira has manifested the Demon Slayer mark until now, and the ones who did it already have been mentioned on the list. Let’s check out all the Demon Slayer characters who have got the mark:
1. Yoriichi Tsugikuni
Yoriichi Tsugikuni was the first character with the Demon Slayer mark. However, he never trained hard or pushed himself beyond his limit to acquire the mark; he had it on his forehead since birth. Well, no wonder he was said to be the strongest demon slayer ever.
Besides that, Yoriichi was the only one who was able to bring Muzan to his knees during a battle. It’s also worth noting that even though no one with the mark can live past 25 years of age, Yoriichi was able to survive for 80 years. He also almost killed Kokushibo at an elderly age.
2. Tanjiro Kamado
Coming from a family of coal burners, Tanjiro never knew that the burnt scar on his forehead would one day take the shape of a demon slayer mark. After losing his family to demons and witnessing the demonic transformation of his sister, Nezuko, Tanjiro trained hard to join the Demon Slayer Corps.
Tanjiro’s true potential remained hidden until the Entertainment District Arc, where we saw him locking horns with Gyutaro and Daki. Learn how to watch Demon Slayer in order using the linked guide.
Tackling the Upper Moon 6 siblings wasn’t Tanjiro’s cup of tea but we have always seen his strong will helping him survive the toughest situations. So, there was an instance where Tanjiro gave Gyutaro a head butt, and when he severed the demon, we saw the boy awakening his demon slayer mark.
3. Muichiro Tokito
Muichiro Tokito was the first hashira to manifest the demon slayer mark on his cheeks during the Swordsmith Village Arc. He was a potent individual from the beginning who was promoted to the Hashira rank two weeks after him joining the Demon Slayer Corps. There’s no denying that he was powerful enough to bring the demons to their knees in any battle.
However, his powers couldn’t help him when Upper Moon 5 Gyokko entered the battleground in the Swordsmith village. The demon tortured Muichiro and sealed him in a water-filled bubble, making him almost drown and injecting him with poisonous needles.
However, when the situation starts getting worse, Muichiro starts feeling sensations in his body, and that’s when the Hashira unknowingly awakens the mark resembling smoke or clouds on his cheeks. This also gave him the strength to defeat the demon and protect the entire village.
4. Mitsuri Kanroji
Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, plays a massive role in the Swordsmith Village Arc. She is the one who keeps the clones of Upper Moon Four engaged and buys time for Tanjiro to find the main body of the demon. She already boasts an impeccable set of powers, but her ability starts growing after she manifests the demon slayer mark above her collarbone.
Mitsuri’s mark consists of two upside-down hearts with two leaves. Of all the Hashiras, Mitsuri Kanroji is the bubbly one with a colorful personality, so her getting a beautiful mark like this is understandable.
5. Giyu Tomioka
Giyu Tomioka plays a significant role in Tanjiro’s life. He sends Tanjiro to the former Water Hashira, Sakonji Urokodaki, to train for the final selection. Tomioka has shown immense growth in terms of powers and also mastered ten Breathing Styles and created one of his own. Despite being this talented, Giyu failed to save Sabito from the Hand Demon, so he stayed depressed for several years. However, Tanjiro helped Giyu realize his worth and overcome his guilt.
Giyu awakens his demon slayer mark on the left cheek while locking horns with Akaza. As he is a Water Hashira, the shape of his mark appears as a fluid.
6. Sanemi Shinazugawa
Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira who comes with immense powers that help him give a hard time to the potent Water Hashira during a friendly conflict. Sanemi’s determination and skills earned him a compliment from Kokushibo, the Upper Moon One Demon.
Even after losing his brother Genya in the Infinity Castle, Sanemi didn’t let his emotions come in between his main goal. So, he accompanies the other Hashiras and gives his best against Muzan Kibutsuji.
Sanemi awakens his demon slayer mark while fighting Kokushibo. The mark not only blesses him with a power-up but also helps him handle the injuries that he received in the battle.

7. Obanai Iguro
Obanai Iguro is the Serpent Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. It’s worth mentioning that among all his peers, Iguro is the one with lesser physical strength. Besides that, the hashira only has a single functioning eye, but that doesn’t make him any less capable than the other Hashiras.
During the Infinity Castle battle, Iguro killed several demons, and after that, he almost killed the demon lord, Muzan Kibutsuji. So, he deserves every bit of praise for not letting his disability come in the path of his duty.
Obanai Iguro awakens his mark during the final battle, and as he is the Serpent Hashira, his mark takes the shape of three snakes. He was undoubtedly fighting well from the beginning, but the mark, of course, boosted his physical strength, endurance, and speed.
8. Gyomei Himejima
Despite being a blind Hashira, Gyomei Himejima, Aka. the Stone Hashira, proved himself to be the strongest in the Demon Slayer Corps. His physical prowess was also acknowledged by Kokushibo, the one who uses Moon Breathing. He admitted that in the past 300 years, he hasn’t encountered anyone as skilled as Himejima. In the battle with Kokushibo, Himejima could hold the demon for a notable period without manifesting the Demon Slayer mark.
Gyomei Himejima’s mark appeared when he had to fight tooth and nail with the Upper-Rank One. The mark helped him to catch up with the demon for an extended period, thanks to the increased stamina and physical prowess.
9. Kokushibo
Unlike other strong characters on this list, Kokushibo is a demon who awakened the demon slayer mark in his human life. Despite being the brother of Yochiiro, the first demon slayer, Kokushibo had very different personality traits from him. He was always jealous of Yochiiro, so he wanted to surpass him, but that never became a reality.
Kokushibo’s mark was visible for the first time while he was training with Yoriichi. However, after knowing that the bearer of the mark won’t live past 25 years, he decided to become a demon to avoid the curse.
