Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been under pressure all season over a grossly underperforming team.
The Red Devils are currently languishing in sixth, 9 points off the top four. They did not make it past the group stages in the Champions League, and their only hope for a title lies in securing the F.A Cup as a semi-final date against Coventry City awaits at Wembley.
This sort of season compared to last where United finished 3rd, secured the Carabao Cup and were F.A Cup finalists can only be classified as a failure.
This has put manager Erik ten Hag under immense pressure, especially after a change in management, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed a minor takeover late last year.
The British billionaire is expected to make his decision about ten Hag’s job in the summer.
According to a recent report from Daily Star, the Dutch manager still has a lot of admiration in the Bundesliga, where he spent a few years as Pep’s assistant at Bayern Munich.
The report also goes on to state that his former club Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart are all closely monitoring his situation as their managerial situation for next season is a bit hazy.
“German rivals Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart also like Ten Hag – and could be willing to hand him a swift return to management.
Leverkusen will need to replace Alonso, who is weighing up offers from Bayern and Liverpool, who want him to succeed Jürgen Klopp at Anfield.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, fear losing current manager Sebastian Hoeness, who could move to Bayern should Alonso choose Liverpool, “says the report.
It is still not the end for Ten Hag, who could potentially rescue his situation at United if they can win the FA Cup and get the club into a Champions League place.
He has between now and the end of the season to convince Ratcliffe and INEOS that he is the man to lead their project into a new era.
