Lamine Yamal produced a stunning performance to lead Spain to the final of the 2024 European Championship following a 2-1 win over France on Tuesday night.
The Barcelona young star continued his impressive performances in the competition with a contender for the goal of the tournament in the first half.
Kolo Muani opened the scoring for France against the run of play with a thumping header from a brilliant Mbappe’s cross to stun Spain in the ninth minute.
Yamal scored a screamer from outside the box in the 21st minute to restore parity for Spain.
Four minutes later, Dani Olmo finished emphatically, which was aided by a touch from France’s Jules Kounde to give Spain a 2-1 lead.
The 16-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to play in the semi-final of the European Championship, and also the youngest goal scorer in the history of the competition.
He has also produced three assists for Spain in the competition while starting all their games.
Yamal is also the first teenager to record three or more assists in a single European Championship or World Cup since 1966.
It was a frustrating night for Kylian Mbappe who struggled to shine for France as they toiled their way out of the competition.
Spain will face the winner between England and Netherlands in the final on Sunday in Berlin.
