The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu has commended the Head of Local Government Administration for Akamkpa Local Government Area,, Mr. Augustine Ngaji for his pragmatic approach to the Local Government Administration.
Professor Esu gave the commendation when he embarked on an inspection of the on-going construction of the Traditional Rulers Council Chambers in the Akamkpa Local Government Secretariat..
The Deputy Governor praised the Akamkpa HOLGA for carrying out the project which he described as the largest in the State from internally generated revenue only.
He remarked that, it is not how much Money one has, but the ability to show what can be done with the limited resources at your disposal and commended his style and character of carrying out developmental projects as HOLGA.
Professor Esu charged other HOLGAs in the State to emulate the good works of Mr. Augustine Ngaji and embark on people – oriented projects in their Local Government Areas.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mrs. Stella Odey Ekpo said, what Mr Augustine Ngaji has done is a clear demonstration of what Governor Ayade has always had in mind to do for the development of Traditional Rulers in the State.
Mrs. Odey- Ekpo asserted that, Governor Ayade will continue to work hand-in-hand with the Traditional Rulers for their improved welfare, while thanking the Governor for creating an enabling environment for the project at the Local Government Levels.
In their remarks, the Chairman, State Traditional Rulers Council, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet and the Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa, Ntufam Clement Ekpe Emayip stated that, Mr. Ngaji has achieved far much as HOLGA Akamkpa within few months of taking over the administration of the Council.
They commended him for his fantastic work and charged other HOLGAs to see the example of Mr. Ngaji as a challenge and leave a long-lasting legacy in their Local Government Areas.
In an interview, the Head of Local Government Administration HOLGA, Akamkpa, Mr. Augustine Ngaji intimated that, the idea of the project was necessitated by the lack of a befitting Council chamber for the Traditional Rulers in Akamkpa.
He described them as Fathers and Custodians of tradition and culture of the people who must be taken care of, which is why the project was embarked upon to provide a place for the Royal Fathers to congregate and adjudicate on matters affecting the tradition and welfare of their subjects.
Mr. Ngaji thanked Governor Ayade for the support and appealed to all Stakeholders of the Akamkpa Local Government Area to cooperate to enable him complete the gigantic edifice.
Highpoint of the visit was the inspection of the building by the Deputy Governor, Professor Esu, accompanied by the Chairman Traditional Rulers Council and Clan Heads of Akamkpa Local Government Area.
