The Esports World Cup is in full force for 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and this week we’ll be seeing the Street Fighter 6 portion of the multi-game competition.
Participants in this event are FLY|Punk, NASR|AngryBird, Falcons|MenaRD, Rohto|Tokido, IBSG|Kakeru, NASR|BigBird, VARREL|Moke, RB|Gachikun, FNATIC|Chris Wong, NIP|Phenom, SR|NuckleDu, HB|Kawano, Mouz|Problem X, DRX|Leshar, Falcons|NL, Liquid|Nephew, KSG|Xiaohai, RB|Bonchan, Eva:e|Hikaru, Saishunkan|Higuchi, G8S|Pugera, Falcons|DCQ, Furia|DualKevin, TM|OilKing, TM|NoahTheProdigy, C9|Lexx, FAV|Ryukichi, Guild|Rainpro, DFM|Itabashi Zangief, GE|Zhen, VP|Vxbao and BC|Tachikawa.
The 32 players have been divided up into 8 different groups for the first stage which will have an internal double elimination bracket from which the top 2 players in each group advance.
Once these 16 players make it out, they will be in a new set of 4 groups with with the same double elimination bracket format in each and again where the top 2 players in each group advance to the final stage.
The final stage will be a first-to-5 single elimination bracket until a champion has been crowned. With a gargantuan $1,000,000 on the line ($300,000 of which goes directly to the first placer), there’s an extremely high amount of money that the players will be batting it out for, so everyone will be bringing their ultimate A game to hit the high placements.
