Manchester United are on the brink of their first transfer window of the Ruben Amorim era, however, it looks set to be a quiet one.
Over the last two years under Erik ten Hag, United have spent a colossal £600 million on transfers, including £200 million last summer.
This is a ridiculous amount of money, especially to have only won two trophies and be eighth in the Premier League last season, falling to 14th when ten Hag was sacked.
Now, United look set to have a completely different approach going forward under Amorim.
Manchester United focus on squad development
Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox all believe that United possesses the talent needed to compete at the top of European football.
Yesterday we reported that as a result of this belief, United are only signing off a “modest budget” for Amorim to add to his squad.

Amorim’s ability to bring out players’ potential, whether youth stars or exiting first-team players could well be one of the reasons he was chosen as ten Hag’s successor.
At Sporting he routinely gave his younger players the chance to grow and get involved in the squad, resulting in several academy stars breaking into the first squad.
Now, with such impressive talents in the United Academy, the Red Devils hierarchy are hoping Amorim can work his magic once more.
Already he’s invited some of United’s youth stars to join first-team training to make up numbers. However, with January’s budget being limited, these stars may become vital parts of his long-term plan.
ESPN has now confirmed that the club’s financial situation means that Amorim is unlikely to be given a substantial budget to work with in January.
The report also confirmed that Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox will be heading up the club’s recruitment operation, with Amorim feeding into it next summer.
An ESPN source confirmed that the future budgets will be much tighter to focus on the continuity and chemistry of the current squad.
