Manchester United are keen on signing 19 year old Palmeiras striker Thalys Henrique Gomes.
According to a report from ESPN, United sent representatives to Brazil to watch the young striker and it will be interesting to see if they actualize on the interest by making an offer come the summer.
The 19-year-old is highly rated in South America and with the immense potential he displays, he certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
He has been a key player for the Palmeiras U20 side this season and he has 10 goals and an assist in all competitions.
Thalys has been compared to Endrick who is headed to Spanish giants Real Madrid, so as soon as he makes his senior debut, European clubs will likely looking to nab him.
According to the report, the approach was only a survey and concrete approach would take a while although Sir Jim reportedly ‘wants a deal’ for the youngster.
This would be keeping in line with his vision to sign the next Mbappe’s and Bellingham’s and develop them into world class players rather than spend a fortune signing already-made superstars.
Thalys will be looking to follow his teammate Endrick’s career path who in the past season has made tremendous progress from Palmeiras youth teams to playing for his nation’s senior team.
And after just over one full season of playing senior games, Endrick has already made his Brazil debut, and scored twice for them both in his last two international appearances.
Thalys reportedly has a release clause of £34million which is not that hefty for a promising youngster like him and shouldn’t be a problem for United should they decide to make a move.
The young attacker could be tempted by a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.
