Eriksen is ready to return and Premier League clubs are interested

    January 4, 20222 Mins Read

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is nearing a return to group training for the first time since he collapsed in Denmark‘s Euro 2020 group stage game against Finland. The 29-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest in the first half of the game in Copenhagen and play was suspended for some time as medical teams saved the national hero.

He has been spending time at Swiss side Chiasso in recent weeks, where he has been building his fitness to a point where he is close to a return to the professional game.

This has alerted clubs in England, the Netherlands and Denmark, who want to bring Eriksen to their teams.

“It is going really well for Christian,” the playmaker’s representative Martin Schoots told the Daily Mail.

“He had all the checks just before Christmas and the results were so good that we expect him to be involved in group training with a team sometime later in January.

“But I would prefer Christian to talk about this himself and he will do so very soon.”

A Premier League return could see him reunite with former Inter boss Antonio Conte, who now manages Tottenham, the club Eriksen left to join the Italian side.

A return to the Eredivisie in the Netherlands could be another avenue he can explore, having played for Ajax before his move to North London.

Playing in his own nation’s top division could also be of interest, where he could also begin his career outside of football with his family or in a coaching or media role.
