Holding a record in the world of football is always an exciting thing to have, if it’s for the right reasons.
Manchester United as a club have held a truly impressive set of records, both as a team and with individual players.
The club hold the record for most amount of Premier League titles won with 20 since its inception. As expected, United also have the most Premier League match wins with 745 games won.
The Red Devils have also recorded two of the top goal differences in a single match with 9-0 wins over Ipswich and Southampton in 1995 and 2021.
New coach Ruud van Nistelrooy also held the record for most consecutive Premier League games scored in, with a run of 10 games in the 2002/03 season.
However some records don’t last forever, with van Nistelrooy’s being broken by Jamie Vardy in Leicester’s fairy tale 2015/16 season which saw them win the league.
Well Erik ten Hag will be hoping that one of his records won’t last after an embarrassing stat has emerged.
Since taking on the managerial role are Old Trafford, ten Hag’s side have conceded three times as many extra time winning goals as United have in the previous 30 years.
Between 1992 and 2022 the Red Devils only let in two goals which have won a game past the 90 minute mark.
However, ten Hag’s time in charge, thanks to Joao Pedro’s headed winner for Brighton in the 95th minute, have conceded six extra time winners.
Whilst ten Hag will be hoping that somewhere in the future this record will be broken, United fans will be hoping this is one record ten Hag keeps.
