Another loss for Erik ten Hag during the international break
Unfortunately for Erik ten Hag, the international break hasn’t brought much respite either, as he recently experienced another defeat—albeit in a much lighter setting.
During a testimonial match at FC Utrecht, Ten Hag’s team of former players suffered a 2-1 loss.
The match was organized in honor of Utrecht legend Mark van der Maarel, who retired after a celebrated 15-year career with the club.

The testimonial pitted a squad of current players against an XI of former stars, with Ten Hag taking charge of the latter side.
Despite the more casual nature of the event, the 54-year-old saw his side fall short, with van der Maarel himself scoring the only goal for Ten Hag’s team.
Erik ten Hag’s history with Utrecht
The Dutch manager has a deep connection with Utrecht, having played for the club in the Eredivisie during the 1995 season.
Erik ten Hag later returned to manage Utrecht in 2015, staying at the helm for two and a half seasons before making the move to Ajax in 2017.

Premier League return against Southampton
As for Manchester United, the pressure is building for Ten Hag to turn things around after a tough start.
The team will resume Premier League action on Saturday, September 14, with a fixture against Southampton, where the Dutchman will be eager to end his string of consecutive defeats.
With the international break serving as a chance to regroup, Ten Hag will be hoping for a change in fortunes once club football returns.
