Manchester United are finally having some reprieve from an injury-plagued season as some of his injured players are coming back into training and fitness for that matter.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s late kick-off against Brentford, Erik ten Hag confirmed long term absentee Lisandro Martínez could be back in the squad, which is a huge boost.

Licha has struggled with injury all season, with the latest coming in last month’s 3-0 win against West Ham United after Hammers right back Vlamidir Coufal landed on his knee.

He sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee and was expected to be out of action for at least eight weeks.

Martinez may be finally coming back to the match day squad, as confirmed by the gaffer.

“Yes there is a chance [he will be in the squad against Brentford]. We have missed him every game because he brings a composure in the team and a calmness in the team and, at the same time, a winning attitude. He can express this very clearly, he can transfer that to the team and that contributes to our levels,” ten Hag confirmed.

Licha’s return will be a huge boost, as his defending and ball-playing have been sorely missed in a very shaky and leaky United defence.

The gaffer also provided a positive update on Luke Shaw’s injury that was expected to keep him out all season.

“Yes, I expect him back before the end of the season, that is the plan, and he is still on schedule for this. He will return into our team.” ten Hag said.
