Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, said his team must earn the right to win the Premier League title rather than depend on any possible sanctions for Manchester City.
Earlier this week, the governing body charged City over 100 breaches of its financial rules.
Possible sanctions for the champions include fines, points deductions or even relegation.
City are already playing catch up in the title race this season and go into this weekend five points behind leaders Arsenal, having played one fixture more.
Arteta has, however, told his side to focus on what they can control.
“We have to earn the right to win it, that’s for sure.
“Let’s focus on what we have to do and win enough football matches for that to happen,” Arteta told the press on Friday.
