How do you speak of peace while your family struggles near the frontlines of war?
This paradox comes to the fore as Olena Komisarenko reflects on her participation in the Economy of Francesco event taking place in the Italian city of Assisi on 22-24 September.
She is currently a doctoral student in Rome, but her family lives in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv, near Kherson and the frontlines of Russia’s invasion.
As she attends the Economy of Francesco this week, Olena hopes to share her experiences with other young people around the world, in hopes of advancing the cause of peace in her homeland.
