Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Thursday, approved the sum of N80,000 as the new minimum wage for the workers in the state.
Mbah announced this via his verified social media page. He said the new minimum wage takes effect immediately.
Quoting him, “Today, I’m happy to announce a new minimum wage for workers in Enugu State, reflecting our fidelity to their welfare in regard to which we’ve been resolutely committed.
“We’ve approved the sum of N80,000 to take immediate effect as the new minimum wage in Enugu State.”
The governor added that the move was anchored on his administration’s belief that “the labour is a creator of wealth and if well taken care of, will grow wealth for the state.”
