English Premier League (EPL) Matchweek 2 preview

We’re in the second week of the English Premier League, EPL, and we’re looking at the preview of Matchweek 2 with head-to-head records of each team and players playing each other.

While some teams are yet to take a point in the start of the EPL season, some will be trailing at the top of the chart if they can continue their 100% unbeaten run with much goals.

Man Utd v Southampton, 19 August (Time: 20:00):

Southampton have won their last two league trips to Old Trafford 1-0. They have never won three in a row there in their entire league history. 

Stoke City v Man City, 20 August (Time – 12:30):

Sergio Aguero has scored six goals in as many Premier League matches against the Potters. 

Burnley v Liverpool, 20 August (Time – 15:00):

Burnley have never scored a Premier League goal against Liverpool, losing all four of their previous encounters. 

Swansea City v Hull City, 20 August (Time – 15:00):

Gylfi Sigurdsson will be looking to score against his 21st different opponent in the Premier League. 

Spurs v Crystal Palace, 20 August (Time – 15:00):

Four of the last seven PL meetings at White Hart Lane between these sides have been draws. Neil Shipperley scored in Palace’s only win in this fixture in November 1997. 

Watford v Chelsea, 20 August (Time – 15:00):

Watford’s 1-0 victory in 1999 is the Hornet’s only win over the Blues in their last 15 meetings in all competitions (W1 D5 L9), Allan Smart scoring the crucial goal

West Brom v Everton, 20 August (Time – 15:00):

Yannick Bolasie could become only the second player to play consecutive fixtures against the same opponent for two different PL clubs, joining Gaston Ramirez who featured twice in a row against West Ham in 2014/15 after transferring from Southampton to Hull City. 

Sunderland v Middlesbrough, 21 August (Time – 15:00):

Sunderland are unbeaten in four Premier League matches against Middlesbrough (W2 D2), but the two teams haven’t met in the top flight since January 2009. 

West Ham v AFC Bournemouth, 21 August (Time – 15:00):

The London Stadium will be the 55th venue to host a Premier League match, with West Ham becoming the 10th PL club to play home fixtures at two different stadiums. 

Leicester City v Arsenal, 20 August (Time – 17:30):

Alexis Sanchez has scored four goals in his previous two league matches at the King Power Stadium.
