Duties and Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to help achieve Afrimat’s vision and objectives by optimizing energy usage and efficiency within mining operations to reduce costs, environmental impact and to ensure compliance with energy-related regulations and standards in the mining industry.

  • Responsible for MOL (Metering-on-line) management for all plants
  • Be able to do designs, feasibility studies and project executions
  • Ensure quality of electricity supply to all Afrimat sites in a cost-efficient way.
  • Develop and maintain an electricity management system in Afrimat for all business units.
  • Driving long term energy efficiency and CO2 reduction initiatives and monitoring.
  • Manage relationship with Eskom and other electricity suppliers.
  • Research and advise on alternative Energy Management supply to reduce electricity consumption.
  • Manage energy projects according to Afrimat Standards.
  • Formulate, revise, and implement energy strategy in line with Afrimat requirements.

Minimum Qualification/ Experience:

  • B.Tech. Engineering degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical.
  • 5 years Engineering or Project related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Analysing and interpretation of information
  • Decision making ability in a fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-disciplined and motivated.
  • Honesty
