EMA: Tornado touched down in county Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Mobile confirmed that an EF0 tornado briefly touched down at the intersection of Cantaline Bridge Road and Whatley Road in Covington County this week.
Reports indicated the tornado touched down on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at approximately 12:06 a.m. No injuries or major damages were reported.
“While the area was not under a tornado watch or warning at the time, this event serves as a critical reminder of how unpredictable weather can be. Even when no watches or warnings are in effect, it’s essential to remain vigilant and ready. Severe weather can develop quickly, and having a plan in place can make all the difference,” Covington County EMA Director Susan Harris said.
The Covington County EMA office offers the following tips to stay weather-ready:
- Stay informed by monitoring local weather reports and alerts.
- Have multiple ways to receive warnings, including weather apps and NOAA weather radios.
- Develop an emergency plan with your family and practice it regularly.
- Keep a basic emergency kit with supplies like water, flashlights, and first aid.
