Another elite European manager has claimed that they rejected an approach from Manchester United recently.
Thomas Tuchel and Xabi Alonso held talks with the Red Devils while Erik ten Hag was in charge, but neither coach was convinced by the club’s project.
Now, it has been revealed that another managerial target turned down the opportunity to come to Old Trafford before Ruben Amorim signed.

Prior to Marseille’s first game of the season, Roberto De Zerbi used a projector to show his players a copy of the contract that United offered him.
He told them that he was not moved by the money and chose to manage Marseille out of passion.
‘This is where I could have been, but I put my passion before money. I came to Marseille for the passion,’ he said, according to L’Equipe.
After his side’s 3-1 home loss to Auxerre on Friday, the Italian coach doubled down on this claim, this time speaking to the media in his post-match press conference.
‘If I’m the problem, I’m ready to leave. I’ll leave without the money, I don’t care about all the rest,’ he said furiously.

Roberto De Zerbi also laid into his squad in the dressing room, fuming that the loss was a humiliation for him and the fans.
‘You humiliated me, you humiliated our club in front of our fans,’ he said.
Former United player Mason Greenwood scored Marseille’s only goal in the game, as he extends his tally to eight this season.
De Zerbi’s side sit third in Ligue 1 after 11 games, but are now nine points off leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
