Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has revealed that his trip to Cairo Egypt is yielding the required fruit as he met with the Chairman Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority, Admiral Osama Rabie and Head of Egypt’s Unified Medical Support and Technology, Babaa El-din Zidan.
The governor in a post on his official social media handle on Tuesday said that the meeting with Admiral Rabie was to explore technical support avenues for the Orashi River dredging project and enhanced port infrastructure.
He emphasized the importance of modernizing Imo State’s maritime capabilities as a catalyst for economic growth, underscoring how Egypt’s expertise in port management and canal operations could transform Imo into a regional hub and noted that Imo State seeks to improve shipping efficiency, boost trade, and enhance security along its waterways, and that the Suez Canal Authority’s vast experience could provide valuable insights and resources to achieve these objectives.
On his meeting with Babaa El-din Zidan, the governor stated that the discussions centred on collaboration opportunities to streamline medical supplies, improve healthcare delivery, and introduce advanced medical technology in Imo State’s public health facilities.
He said: “I have engaged in constructive discussions here in Cairo, on strategic partnerships crucial to our State’s development. I met with Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority, to explore technical support avenues for our port development initiatives.
“In another fruitful meeting, I spoke with Babaa El-din Zidan, Head of Egypt’s Unified Medical Support and Technology Office.
“Our conversation centred on establishing a partnership to strengthen our health sector, with opportunities to expand collaboration across other critical areas.
“The progress from these engagements underscores promising prospects for cooperation that align with our developmental objectives.”
