The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 28 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom and Edo States.
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said the suspects were arrested at different locations on October 7 following credible intelligence on their fraudulent internet activities.
The spokesman added that 13 suspects were arrested in the Nwaniba area of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, while 15 were arrested in Benin City, Edo State.
Items recovered from the suspects in Akwa Ibom included two Lexus 350 saloon cars and a Toyota Camry V6 car.
Others were – a Toyota Corolla car, six laptop computers, and 20 smartphones.
“Items recovered from the Benin suspects were four exotic cars, laptops, and phones.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed,” Oyewale stated.
