Ed's ready to rap... or wrap it up with his character select screen, pre-fight and Versus face animations revealed for Street Fighter 6

After waiting like five months to finally see him, more information about Ed is starting to steadily trickle out as we approach his final release.

Capcom released a new video tonight showcasing Ed’s various pre-fight animations as well as his Versus screen faces for Street Fighter 6.

If there were any doubts, Ed finds himself at the bottom right of the character select screen next to A.K.I. and Rashid, so Akuma should fill out that row unless the developers reorganize the order at the end of the season.

When you pick him, Ed boy is sitting on a couple of boxes with a dark bottle in his hand, which he then puts down and gets loosened up when confirmed to fight.

The bottle certainly looks like it could be beer, which shouldn’t technically give the game a rating issue since the ESRB already has it down for alcohol use, but that’d still feel out of place a bit for the series — so maybe he just prefers his soda in a glass bottle.

Interestingly, his fighter stats say he’s effective at long-range, which you wouldn’t expect for a boxer, and he’s rated as Hard in ease of use coming off of being an easy input character in Street Fighter 5.

The pre-fight walk out doesn’t just show us both of Ed’s warm ups, but also a closer look at parts of the new Ruined Lab stage with the blank Seth bodies in the background.

And then of course we get to see all of the faces Ed can make on the loading screen where we have a feeling two are going to be more popular than others based on appearance.

This comes after Capcom released Ed’s full gameplay trailer last week and then his character guide breaking down his new moves earlier this week.

Ed’s still on track to release on February 27 as SF6’s third DLC character though he’ll be playable at Capcom Cup X for a few days next week too for attendees.

You can check out Ed’s new SF6 video below where it seems not even Capcom themselves could hold back from making an Eminem joke.
