The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the death of a teenager, Okonkwo Emmanuel, following an alleged ritual performance.
The incident reportedly occurred in Iyamon Village, Ubiaja, the Esan South-East Local Government Area, and was reported to the police on April 2 by the deceased person’s elder brother.
The brother, Onyenbushi, told the police that a self-acclaimed native doctor, Amechi Edozunor, in collaboration with one Kelvin Ugru, allegedly performed a ritual on the victim.
The alleged charm is to fortify the deceased and make him “invulnerable to bottles.”
To test the effectiveness of the alleged charm, the teenager was reportedly struck with a bottle on the head, leading to a fatal injury.
The victim was reportedly rushed to Wisdom Hospital; He was subsequently referred to Ogbeide Hospital, where he died on April 5.
The sources said his remains have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy, while both suspects are currently in police custody pending further investigation.
