Tyrant provides a full in-depth breakdown on the upcoming DLC fighter
Ed, Street Fighter 6’s third DLC character, is set for official release on February 27. Those in attendance at Capcom Cup X this week, however, can try their hand at the character early thanks to the playable demos on the show floor.
Ahead of his release, Tyrant was given the opportunity to sit down and spend some time playing as Ed, granting him the chance to learn more about the upcoming combatant. As a result, Tyrant has put together an early, full, in-depth breakdown on all of Ed’s tools and his strengths and weaknesses.
Tyrant begins by walking us through the various moves Ed has featured on his move list. We see not only in-game demonstrations from the content creator on screen here, but also the small videos from the move listing also playing on screen simultaneously.
Right out of the gate, Tyrant makes mention of how Ed now has no kick attacks in his arsenal. Back in Street Fighter 5 he had a number of different kicks at his disposal, but in order to make him more of a true boxer here in Street Fighter 6, Capcom designed his kit to only include punch attacks.
A button like jumping medium punch gets the spotlight here as it has an impressive downward hitbox and actually hits as a cross up. We also see his Flicker jabs on display again, which are angled, ranged normal attacks that are relegated to his kick buttons.
What’s great about this analysis video is that Tyrant also provides some of the nitty gritty details about Ed that Capcom didn’t include in their prior footage and breakdowns.
For example, we learn that Ed’s standing heavy kick is an amazing single-button anti-air option, and it is also special cancellable allowing him to set up a tricky left-right mix up. Tyrant also makes specific mention of Ed’s standing heavy punch as one of his strengths, which works very similarly to Ken’s, but might actually hit from even further away.
