Despite some fans not engaging as much with Mortal Kombat 1 at this point in time, the game is still going strong on the content support end of things. The latest fighting title from NetherRealm Studios is gearing up to add the another playable main roster character and a Kameo Fighter to the mix next month, and today we got our first real glimpse at the former.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has shared a new teaser on Twitter today that grants us an early look at Takeda’s official gameplay. We also get to see a pre-fight interaction between Takeda and his master, Scorpion.
Boon had a bit to say this time around, adding a few details into the tweet accompanying the new teaser footage.
“Takeda marks the last (Kombat Pack 1) fighter, and Ferra the final (KP1) Kameo in #MortalKombat1 So far…” Boon began. “Here’s a quick taste of what to expect with Takeda.”
As Ed points out, Takeda acts as the final main roster DLC character for Kombat Pack 1. Ferra, the smol, vicious half of duo Ferra/Torr from Mortal Kombat X, is also going to be the last Kameo Fighter to be released in the first Kombat Pack.
In their pre-fight clash, Takeda tells Scorpion that his losing streak against him ends today. “Only if your kombat has improved,” Scorpion retorts.
As we know, Takeda made his debut back in Mortal Kombat X as one of the new generation of fighters that stem from classic combatants. In this case, Takeda was a student of Scorpion and the Shirai Ryu, as well as Kenshi’s son.
After the clash, we see a short clip of Takeda’s Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay. He begins with a couple of swift whip strikes into a teleport up above and behind Scorpion, comboing into a launcher then leaping up to continue with an air sequence.
Takeda is shown to have an air projectile that sees him throw three mines onto the floor at different ranges that each explode individually. This appears to be the Enhanced version of the special move, and each hit pulls Scorpion back toward Takeda allowing him to continue the onslaught.

Earlier this month, the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account announced a delay in Ferra’s release. To make up for this, though, they revealed Takeda’s official Mortal Kombat 1 early access release date — which is July 23 — and noted that Ferra will also be releasing on the same day.
