Mortal Kombat 1 has just seen the release of its latest main roster DLC character, Ermac, and it looks like NetherRealm Studios is keeping their momentum going with the first year of content.
Series co-creator Ed Boon took to Twitter today to share the first-ever in-game look at the game’s next DLC fighter, The Boys’ own Homelander. On top of sharing a quick teaser video for the upcoming combatant, Boon also listed out all kinds of other content that fans should still expect to see added to Mortal Kombat 1 down the road.
“We’re very pleased with the reception players are giving Ermac and happy to remind everyone there is still a LOT more planned for #MortalKombat1,” Ed Boon began with his tweet. “More: Klassic Kostumes, New Moves, Kameos, online features, secrets, and of course….”
Beneath the tweet we see a quick Mortal Kombat 1 clip included that features the pre-fight clash between Homelander and Liu Kang. “You have chosen war with a god,” Liu Kang says as the two stare each other down.
The teaser is very brief and doesn’t seem to feature any dialogue lines from Homelander, which is interesting. However, we do get to see what the upcoming DLC character actually looks like in-game now, as we only ever saw him previously in the initial Kombat Pack announcement trailer back in July 2023.
It seems there’s quite a lot still planned for Mortal Kombat 1 as we draw closer to the end of the first season of DLC. Boon makes mention of more classic skins, new moves, more online features, and even secrets, and considering some of the struggles we’ve seen with Mortal Kombat 1’s added content in the past (specifically pricing), we hope that both Warner Bros. and NetherRealm can release quality content that fans can purchase and enjoy.
That being said, the community does seem to have taken a big liking to Ermac, and some of the recent balance changes certainly seem like they’re moving the game in a better direction now. We won’t even have to wait until Homelander launches to get another dopamine hit from Mortal Kombat 1 either.
In May, the game’s next DLC Kameo Fighter will be seeing his release. Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance’s own Mavado is returning and will be able to use his elastic whips with hooks on the end of them to aid you in battle.
