Kameo fighters have been the most experimental aspect of Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay with the assists providing something different for the series, which has produced some mixed results up to this point.
Mortal Kombat Co-creator Ed Boon just revealed a handful of potential Kameos to include in the Khaos Reigns expansion / Year 2 for MK1 and is asking for fan feedback.
Taking to X / Twitter after teasing the incoming Cyrax trailer for tomorrow, Boon tossed out four names he said came up in design meetings, and some of them are a bit unexpected.
Those were Invincible, Kidd Thunder, Blanche and Chucky from Child’s Play.
Invincible would be an easy guess to put in next to his father Omni-Man, who was a DLC character last year though the others are a little more out there.
Chucky would be one of the last remaining horror / slasher icons Mortal Kombat hasn’t gotten ahold of before after Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the Xenomorph if you want to count that, and the doll would fit in with Scream’s Ghostface being part of the Khaos Reigns DLC cast.
Blanche is the old woman who appeared as an interactable on the Outworld stage of Mortal Kombat X, so she’d be more of a joke pick though we wouldn’t put it past the developers to go for a funnier choice to try and shake things up too.
Her main assist would probably still be getting tossed around though they’d have to give her more to do than that.
I think this might be the reason Blanche never returned in MK 11 She was sick of this pic.twitter.com/ZwBGAS0cnP

Kidd Thunder first appeared as a miniature version of Raiden all the way back in Mortal Kombat 2 for his Friendship finisher where he’s popped up a few times since.
He more recently appeared as something of a quick Easter egg in Injustice 2 but was then brought back for Raiden’s friendship in Mortal Kombat 11 where they did dance together.
Mortal Kombat 1’s first year of DLC included five new Kameos alongside the full fighters including Tremor, Mavado, Janet Cage, Khameleon and Ferra though no mention had been made up to this point about adding more.
This raised the question as to whether NetherRealm Studios would even be adding more assists to the game or attempt to take things in a different direction for the second year, but it seems like they’re not done after all.
Although he’s just asking fans about them now, there’s a high likelihood that the Kameos have already been decided upon and are now in production, especially if they’re part of crossovers that need extra approval on designs and such.
This does also remind us of the model, who appeared to leak her involvement as a female Scorpion for Mortal Kombat 1 earlier this year, and would make a strong candidate for a Kameo pick too.
Going with that gender-bending route would fit in with some of the other Khaos Reigns DLC considering Cyrax and Sektor have been turned into ladies on top of Janet Cage last season.
Besides the three aforementioned fighters, Khaos Reigns is also bringing in the likes of Noob Saibot, Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
There will also be a new Story Mode expansion launching on September 24 with half of the DLC characters and the other half coming sometime in 2025.
Considering NRS has yet to show anything for future Kameos, there’s a strong chance we may not see them in the game until next year too.
We’ll have to wait and see what exactly the developers are cooking up for MK1’s second round of content.
In a meeting with design we threw around ideas for MK1: YEAR 2 (Khaos Reigns) Kameo Fighters. Some names that came up included:
1. Blanche (MKX old lady)
2. Kidd Thunder (MK2 Raiden Friendship)
3. Invincible (OmniMan’s son)
4. ChuckyWho would you like to see most?
There would…
