Ecuador gets 206 additional coronavirus cases in a single day, with no fatalities.

In the last 24 hours, Ecuador announced 206 new COVID-19 infections, in which no fatalities from the disease were recorded. According to the Ministry of Public Health’s daily report, this is a total of 885,318 cases and 25,377 deaths confirmed by COVID-19 since the start of the epidemic more than two years ago.

Despite the rise in cases, public hospitals have a low occupancy rate for hospital beds and intensive care units, with 3% and 5%, respectively. Ecuador is now facing an outbreak of illnesses linked to the removal of the compulsory use of masks in open and closed areas, which was put into action on April 28.

However, in recent weeks, they have declared that a new outbreak of infections has not occurred. They stated that “the expected trend is maintained,” noting that due to citizen relaxation, authorities have urged the population to get third and fourth booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to have greater SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus immunity.

The vaccine is required in Ecuador for the target population of ages three and above, which totals more than 16 million people.

Since January 2021, when the National Vaccination Plan was launched, just over 35.3 million doses have been used in the country, allowing for social and economic revitalization.
