Street Fighter 6 players have been waiting almost five whole months for a new DLC character, and now a lucky few are getting to take him for a spin early.
Some Capcom Cup X attendees are sharing gameplay footage online for Ed that’s revealing quite a bit new information on his attacks and possible tech.
Like the early balance update videos for SF6, much of this info is coming courtesy of the helpful noonches testing out a bunch of different moves.
Please note, however, to not pay too much attention to the damage Ed is dishing out here because he’s been given a handicap in many of these clips to give him full meter for experiments — so it won’t be like that in normal gameplay.
One thing that may be a bit of a bummer for potential Ed mains is it appears his low flicker jabs do not actually hit as a low.

On the better side, Drive Rush into standing heavy punch canceled to Overdrive Psycho Snatcher is a frame trap, so he’ll get a full combo if the opponent tries to hit a button or be at least +2 on block.
DR sthp x ex snatcher is not only real it’s a frametrap so you just gotta hold that pic.twitter.com/pAo9Ybj5hU

Confirmed that ex pull is at least +2 so throw beats a 4f pic.twitter.com/YDVYNFQTMu

It appears though that both Snatcher and his charged rush punch can be stuffed with Drive Reversal.
Seems like you can always d-reversal ex pull pic.twitter.com/1aiN9vhunH

Moreover, the big punch can be hit with Drive Impact, but Ed can bait this out by canceling the hit into his command dash.
Fully charged rush punch is very free to DI and not super cancellable. Def cant just throw it out like sfv pic.twitter.com/XXsivRx8Ct

Ok so the bit here is to charge 5hp then cancel it into command dash to bait DI. You cant DI the dash punch on reaction to seeing it’s not cmd dash pic.twitter.com/DTEe5AKklh

If you’re wondering about throw loops, it appears Ed has those too.

So far it feels as though Ed’s crouch heavy kick flicker is one of his best normals for its speed, range and being cancelable into Drive Rush or other attacks.
2HK seems like the god button. Fast, reaches far, cancellable, and seems hit confirmable but not certain pic.twitter.com/fNAcVYotzQ

Unsurprisingly, his wakeup OD Psycho Upper can still be meatied with a light attack, so it has a slower startup like Street Fighter 5.
We knew you can safe jab ed wakeup exdp, but i can confirm that it is also VERY EASY to do so pic.twitter.com/rt8OvKWhHF

Maximilian Dood hasn’t shared any footage yet, but says he played a bunch of Ed walking away feeling like he’s quite fun and that his strength seems to come more from his mid-long range game than up close.
Ed is still on track to release February 27 for everyone, and he’ll be available for Capcom Cup attendees on Thursday and Friday this week as well.
Let us know if you’ve seen any other good footage of Ed online yet, and look forward to some hands on impressions of the new DLC character coming soon from some of the EventHubs crew on location.
