The Durham High School football team jumped out to an early 16-0 lead after the first quarter on Friday in Paradise, took a 16-6 lead into halftime, and outscored the Bobcats 7-3 in the second half to secure a 23-9 lead in Sacramento Valley League play.
Durham’s Kolton Beynon scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown, before quarterback Perry Phillips rushed for a 2-point conversion. Phillips then completed a 20-yard pass to Jack Stephens for a TD before Phillips ran for a 2-point conversion once again.
Paradise’s Evan Higgs scored a rushing TD with three minutes left until halftime. Paradise kicker Max Luna kicked a 35-yard field goal midway through the third quarter.
With two minutes left in the third quarter, Phillips completed an 8-yard TD pass to Beynon to give the Trojans a 23-9 lead.
Durham (4-2, 1-1 SVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Colusa. Paradise (1-4, 0-1 SVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at East Nicolaus.
Lassen 34, Las Plumas 0: The Grizzlies took a 27-0 lead at halftime, and completed the shutout in both teams’ final non-league game at Harrison Stadium in Oroville.
Las Plumas (3-2) opens Butte View League play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Live Oak.
Foothill 47, Corning 0: The Cardinals offense was able to generate only 73 yards in its loss in Palo Cedro.
Quarterback Kanon Gregorio completed 1-of-2 passes for 7 yards, and Colt Dagorret led the Cardinals with 21 rushing yards and eight tackles on defense.
Corning (1-4) opens BVL play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oroville.
