Duane Duncan McCalman, age 82, of Andalusia passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.
Duane was born in the Burnout Community of Crenshaw County, Alabama to her late parents, Opal and William Ray Duncan, on April 1, 1942. She was married to David Michael McCalman in 1962 and had two sons, Dr. David Michael McCalman II and Patrick Steven McCalman.
Duane received both her bachelor and master’s degrees from Troy State University. She retired from the Alabama public school system and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Michael McCalman, and a son, Dr. David Michael McCalman II.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Steven McCalman and wife, Valarie, and a daughter-in-law, Stacie Collier McCalman all of Andalusia; and five grandchildren, David Michael McCalman III MD, Elizabeth Collier McCalman DMD, and Hannah Sims McCalman Henley DMD (Parker) all of Birmingham, Alabama, Patrick Steven McCalman II “Cal” of Atlanta, Georgia and Jack Davis McCalman of Auburn, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister, Myra Duncan Knowles (Lon) of Griffin, Georgia; niece, Lee Thomas (Lee) of Covington, Georgia; and a nephew, Vin Thomas (Hattie) of Savannah, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Covington County Foster Parent Association, 405 River Falls Street, Suite 141, Andalusia, Alabama 36420.
The family will have a private service with Wyatt Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
