Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been drawn against the United States in the quarter-final of the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This match will be held on August 7 at 9:30 pm local time (8:30 pm Nigerian time).
The Rena Wakama-led team secured their historic first-ever appearance in the Olympic quarter-finals by defeating Canada 79-70 in their final group game on Sunday. Despite topping Group B for a time, D’Tigress were edged to third place after Australia’s 79-72 victory over France in their group match.
As a result, Nigeria will face the US, the defending champions. This will be the second time the two nations meet at the Olympics, with the US having defeated D’Tigress by 9 points during the Tokyo 2020 Games. The teams also met during the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, where the Americans secured a decisive win.
In other quarter-final matchups, Serbia will play against Australia, Spain will face Belgium, and France will go up against Germany.
