A truck driver sustained serious injuries on Thursday when his vehicle overturned while attempting a high-speed maneuver in the Mile 2 area of Lagos State.
The truck narrowly missed a Toyota SUV, with the incident occurring at the Second Gate, inward Mile 2, around 5:00 p.m.
Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly rescued the driver and transported him to Apapa General Hospital for medical attention.
“During the rescue operation, police officers from Tin-Can Port were on hand to ensure the safety of those involved and provide security,” said Adebayo Taofiq, the LASTMA spokesperson.
The driver of the Toyota SUV miraculously escaped unscathed, despite his vehicle coming close to being crushed by the 40-foot container.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit, immediately contacted by the LASTMA rescue team, provided additional support during the evacuation process.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy for the injured driver and wished him a speedy recovery. He emphasized the importance of truck drivers exercising caution, especially when transporting large and heavy loads, to ensure road safety.
