Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta has revealed that Manchester United are still in the race to win the Premier League title despite their poor start to the season.
The Red Devils are 15 points behind leaders Liverpool, and four points off the Champions League spots after 13 matches.
Ruben Amorim replaced Erik Ten Hag in November after the team struggled for form, and consistency.
The Portuguese manager has won two out of his three matches in charge, and he will be hoping to continue his unbeaten start to life against Arsenal on Wednesday.
The Gunners will welcome Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night as they bid to continue their recent resurgence after winning their last three matches in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.
Arteta believes Manchester United are still in the mix for the Premier League title race.
He said: “It’s still very early in the season any team that has the capacity to put five or six wins in a row is going to be up there because it’s so tough and you see every week how all the teams are struggling to maintain winning, winning and winning. So I think anything is possible.
Arteta revealed that Amorim’s imprint is already showing in the team just weeks after he replaced Ten Hag.
He said: “You can see his fingerprints in what he wants to do straight away, I think he’s been very clear, he’s been very successful with Sporting.
“He brings energy to a new club and to the players new ideas and that’s always something positive but we have to focus on what we have to do.”
The Gunners are nine points behind table-toppers Liverpool, while Manchester United occupy the ninth position with 19 points from 13 games.
Arsenal have won their last three Premier League games against Manchester United – they’ve never won four in a row against the Red Devils in their league history.
Manchester United have lost seven of their last nine Premier League away games against Arsenal, and are winless in six visits to the Emirates, losing the last three in a row.
