WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (TCD) — Police arrested two men and a woman for allegedly shooting and killing a 33-year-old man who had just delivered pizza to a birthday party.
West Palm Beach Police Department spokesman Mike Jachles said in a video police officers responded to Ninth Street and Douglass Avenue on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 12:50 p.m. and found a male victim who had been “obviously” shot. Officers attempted lifesaving measures on the man until the West Palm Beach Fire Department arrived and transported him to the hospital, where he died.
WPTV-TV identified the man as Tommie Anderson III.
Jachles said Anderson was shot right after he completed a delivery to a birthday party in the area. Investigators reportedly do not believe the shooting is connected to the party where he dropped off the pizzas.
WPTV reports 25-year-old Elijsha Wingfield, 25-year-old Avianna Williams, and 29-year-old Marcus Williams were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 10, on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm.
According to the arrest affidavit, surveillance video showed a white Honda with a “unique dent” on the rear door of the driver’s side and one of the people in the car was reportedly wearing a “round hockey-styled mask.” At one point, the Honda reportedly pulled up directly next to Anderson’s car.
Wingfield allegedly had a 9 mm handgun and semi-automatic gun in his possession, while Marcus Williams was reportedly carrying a large knife and AR-15 rifle.
The affidavit alleges Avianna Williams drove the Honda and Wingfield saw Anderson near his car. Wingfield allegedly said, “Let’s see what he’s got,” and he and Marcus Williams exited the car.
The men reportedly approached Anderson, and Wingfield said, “I ain’t playing with you. This ain’t a game!”
Marcus Williams said Wingfield shot Anderson three times. They saw Anderson fall to the ground, then they drove off. Marcus Williams and Wingfield both admitted to wearing black ski masks during the robbery.
Wingfield told police he robbed Anderson because he was “expecting a paycheck which he didn’t receive.”
Anderson’s father, Tommie Anderson Jr., spoke with WPTV and said Anderson was the father of a 6-year-old and 13-year-old. Tuesday was reportedly only his second day on the job.
Anderson Jr. said, “He was just trying to make ends meet for my two grandkids. That’s all he was trying to do.”
