'Doesn't matter who plays A.K.I. or how you play her, she's undoubtedly in the bottom tier' — Daigo Umehara

A.K.I. is the latest DLC character to join Street Fighter 6’s roster. Like many other professional players, BST|Daigo Umehara spent some time trying out A.K.I. before coming to a certain conclusion regarding the character’s viability in Street Fighter 6.

“A.K.I. is definitely not strong, but she’s fun,” said Daigo earlier this month. Another video on FGC Translated’s YouTube channel translated Daigo’s more recent thoughts about A.K.I.

“A.K.I. is really fun, but I think she’s too weak for a new character,” said Daigo. “They can’t mess up a new character since they’ll only update the game once a year.”

“I don’t think once a year is a good idea,” continued Daigo. “I’m sure she would’ve been buffed if she was in the beta.”

Some time later, the chat seemed to indicate to Daigo that A.K.I. was at least better than Ryu, but he wasn’t so sure about this. He then noted that Ryu’s win condition is easier to grasp compared to A.K.I.’s.

As such, he would go on to outright state that Ryu was the better of the two, but would also mention that Ken was better than Ryu. Regardless, Daigo apparently feels disappointed by A.K.I. overall.

“I was hoping all DLC characters would be broken,” stated Daigo. “But look at her and how scared Capcom is…”

“Doesn’t matter who plays A.K.I. or how you play A.K.I., she’s undoubtedly in the bottom tier,” explains Daigo. “She’s so weak. She made me realize how good Ryu was.”

The Japanese pro player would go on to say some other very interesting things about the newly released character in Street Fighter 6. Check it all out in the video below:
