The Tennessee authorities are currently investigating the mysterious death of Memphis DJ Rick “Slick Rick” Buchanan, who was found decapitated in his home on Jan. 24. His 60-year-old brother, John Buchanan, made the grisly discovery and called 911. According to John, he initially thought Rick was just cold with his coat over his head, but upon closer inspection, he realized it was something much worse. The Memphis Police Department confirmed that officers responded to an ambulance call from the house, and found a deceased man inside. Despite this, the cause of death remains undetermined and the investigation is ongoing.
Following Rick’s death, his family set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs and potentially donate to a charity in his honor. They expressed their gratitude for the support they have been receiving. The family remembered Rick as someone who gave to anyone he could, raising significant amounts of money for friends, strangers, and charities like MDA.
Prior to his tragic death, Rick had faced personal struggles after being injured in a 2014 shooting just outside the Stage Shop. The incident made it difficult for him to find work and led to a more reclusive lifestyle. Rick is survived by his family and his beloved dog, Lucky.
