A new 3v3 mode is also being added to the game
It seems that Arc System Works was a little too eager to unveil their plans for the future of Guilty Gear Strive during Evo 2024. They ended up leaking the trailer a little earlier than originally intended. The next four characters coming to Season 4 have all been revealed in the new trailer.
Sometime in October 2024, Queen Dizzy will be released as the next DLC fighter. Venom is planned to be released in early 2025. Unika, a newcomer to the series, will be released sometime in 2025. Finally, Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, will be released in 2025 as the first guest character for Guilty Gear Strive.
Dizzy’s eventual inclusion makes sense considering that she’s seen as one of the most popular characters of the Guilty Gear series. The most notable thing about her is that her shapeshifting wings are also called her guardians, known as Necro and Undine.
Ky Kiske is her husband while Sin Kiske is her son. As a half-Gear and half-human hybrid, Dizzy is canonically an immensely powerful character. It will be interesting to see what mechanics Guilty Gear Strive will implement for her shapeshifting wings.
Venom is an assassin of the Assassin’s Guild who has direct connections to Zato-1 himself. His unique weapon of choice is a pool cue
During gameplay, Venom has been known to manifest billiard balls to attack opponents with. He’s then able to control these billiard balls as a way of obstructing enemies.
As mentioned before, Unika is a newcomer to the Guilty Gear series, though he’s also set to appear in the upcoming anime, Guilty Gear Strive Dual Riders. Not much is known about Unika aside from the fact that she apparently hates Gears.
It seems that Unika is motivated by the goal of destroying every last Gear, for some reason. At some point in the anime, she is destined to cross paths with Ky Kiske. Being that she’s a complete newcomer with unknown origins, her gameplay style is currently a mystery.
Finally, Lucy from CD PROJEKT RED’s anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is slated to appear in Guilty Gear Strive as the first guest character of the series. Her full name is Lucyna Kushinada.
Lucy is a netrunner, a savvy hacker with cybernetic augmentation, that lives in Night City in the Cyberpunk universe. She’ll likely utilize Unity, a heavy pistol, during gameplay.
Although fans will be waiting a good while for Dizzy, ArcSys will be letting players try out the new 3v3 team mode in just a few days.
An open beta test for the Team of 3 Mode is set to release on July 25, which will be free to everyone, not just current owners of Strive. They don’t say how long it’s going to last, however.
Additionally, the upcoming update is adding “Team of 3 Mode,” which seems reminiscent of the Marvel vs. Capcom series’ gameplay in that additional characters can be called in for assists. Check it all out below:
