Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency during the week held its first staff meeting as an Agency. Speaking at the meeting, the Director General, Dr. Mrs. Betta Edu officially congratulated them on their transformation from Department of Community & Primary Healthcare to Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency by His Excellency, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade, noting that it is totally by the mercies of God and capacity show by the DC/PHC departmental staff.
She said, the positive change was necessary as Cross River State will now be recognised as one of the states that are in line with the national policy in healthcare system restructuring. According to her the mandate of the agency which is to manage all PHC activities in the state is no mean task, but we must stand up to that responsibility.
In her words “I enjoin you all to continue your good works, don't give up because better days are ahead. Be punctual, show commitment and dedication to your duty. So far I am impressed and I still reinstate my pledged to give out 15℅ percent of my salary to the most committed staff in the agency”.
Speaking earlier, Mr Randy Otu, Director —Administration, urged the staff to show more commitment and always sign the time book as it is a principle they swore to abide under the Civil Service guidelines. He added that punctuality is very vital as he will no longer tolerate nonchalant attitude henceforth.
Also speaking, Dr Ana Onebieni, Director of Primary Healthcare lauded the agency for successful Immunization Plus Days. Noting that Cross River State ranking in Nigeria has improved tremendously as it concerns immunization. He said the success is not only for him or the DG but for all in the agency.
Reacting to the call for total commitment and dedication, Mrs Felicia Eyaba (State Immunisation Officer)on behalf of the staff promised to put in their best by assuring the DG and State Governor, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade of change in attitude which is the greatest problem of civil servants in Nigeria.
She eulogized the state Governor , Sen Ben Ayade for his prompt payment of salary to workers, saying it's time for us to pay back through hard work and dedication to duty.
Some of the toothing challenges noted by the DG includes, the transfer of all PHC staff to the Agency. This she said is part of the national requirements for PHC UNDER ONE ROOF, noting that it will lead to proper cordination of PHC activites in the state, make PHCs more funtional, improve discipline of health workers and aid for better monitoring and supervision.
She also noted that their new accommodation was almost ready and staff of the agency who had no office space before can be fully accommodated.
She assured the agency that the dynamic Governor Sen. Ben Ayade is working very hard to complete the great work he already started through the creation of the Agency.
