Dillian Whyte can beat Anthony Joshua right now and become a world champion, says Gareth Davies

Dillian Whyte would beat Anthony Joshua if they met and will one day become a world champion.

That’s according to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, who was discussing ‘The Body Snatcher’ and his title fight with Tyson Fury on Saturday.

But Jordan disagrees and thinks Fury will beat him this weekend

But talkSPORT host and boxing fan Simon Jordan doesn’t have faith in the 34-year-old and, having lost to Joshua earlier in his career, the talkSPORT host doesn’t think he could beat him now either.

Jordan also stated that Whyte would struggle against Oleksandr Usyk and won’t win when he comes head-to-head with Fury on Saturday, which is live on talkSPORT.

“A compelling world-level fighter is somebody, to me, that operates at a level that can win a world title,” Jordan said.

“I don’t think Dillian Whyte can beat Tyson Fury. I don’t think he can beat Oleksander Usyk.

“And I don’t think, unless he’s gone completely gun-shy, he can beat Anthony Joshua.”

But Davies disagrees and believes Whyte will, one day, be a world champion.

Despite beating him earlier in his career, Davies isn’t sure that Joshua could currently beat Whyte

Despite beating him earlier in his career, Davies isn’t sure that Joshua could currently beat Whyte

He has the opportunity to do just that this weekend and, after that, perhaps a fight with Joshua could be on the cards – a bout in which Davies would fancy Whyte.

He told talkSPORT: “I think he could beat Anthony Joshua right now. I’d favour him in a fight with him because I don’t think Joshua’s right.

“I think Dillian Whyte will go on to be a world champion in the sport.”
