DIG Egbunike who headed Abba Kyari investigation collapses, dies

DIG Egbunike recently headed the Special Investigation Panel that investigated the alleged involvement of Suspended DCP Abba Kyari, former Commander of the Police Intelligence Team, IRT over the $1.1million Hushpuppi internet fraud, reportedly slumped in the office and died before he could get medical help response on Tuesday night.

According to a reliable source, DIG Egbunike was feeling uneasy at the weekend and decided to seek his physician on Tuesday for a medical check-up after which he was given medication and certified “okay” to go.

But minutes later, the senior officer who was said to have driven to office in company of family and was his usual active self, collapsed and died.

Joseph Egbunike who had previously served as the DIG in charge of Finance and Administration before he was appointed DIG Investigation, hails from Onitsha in Anambra State and is the DIG overseeing the South-East geopolitical zone.
