The Paraguayan has been closely monitored by the Red Devils as part of their long-term plans.
Leon is a talented left-back and one who is viewed as a future option for Amorim’s system long-term.
The young prospect has impressed with his performances, making 19 appearances in 2024 and scoring twice.
His attacking abilities have drawn comparisons to modern full-backs, with a huge level of potential.
Leon’s potential attracted attention from European giants, including Premier League rivals.
Arsenal were among those interested in securing his signature, but United are set to beat the North London club to it.

The new strategy of focusing on low-cost, high potential signings for the future.
The benefits may not be seen in United’s short term results.
However, it is a strategy that comes to fruition with time.
A transfer strategy that is beginning to be implemented by other European giants, Chelsea coming to mind.
It may well see the end of Luke Shaw’s time at the club, with the Englishman struggling to stay fit.
Tyrell Malacia is another one unfortunately placed in that category too, albeit set to remain at the club for the future.
