Representatives of the Labour Party (LP) and New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Cross River have distanced themselves from the alleged election of an interim Executive Council of the Inter Political Advisory Council (IPAC).
Comr. Ekpo Bassey Ekpo of LP and Engr. Christopher I. Ashabe of NNPC have disclaimed, through a press release dated 1st July, their involvement in what they referred to as an illegal meeting that saw to their emergence as part of the interim leaders of IPAC in the state.
Ekpo disclosed that 'it is horrible that these fraudulent set of persons went as far as including my name, phone number and signature in their treacherous act… I was cajoled by Mr. Vincent Ebu'.
Ashabe said in a 1st July press statement 'my attention has been drawn to the purported list of IPAC fake interim executive which my name was included. I Engr. Christopher I. Ashabe… Wish to state categorically disclaiming (sic) that I was never part of the illegal meeting.'
Anthony Bissong Attah the alleged state chair of the Interim EXCO of IPAC who queried if the duo are kids countered that Ashabe and Ekpo are under pressure seeing that they have been threatened to have their appointments with the state government as aides to the governor revoked: 'I really feel for them because of the pressure they are going through'. When queried why he refused to be patient until September when the normal election would take place, Attah said they want to fill a gap.
When NEGROIDHAVEN Spoke with Ezenwa Leonard the National Chairman of IPAC this morning, he said that the National leadership of IPAC is yet to meet to give a directive on this directive.
NEGROIDHAVEN further learnt that NNPC and Accord Party are still surviving members of the substantive state EXCO of IPAC in the Cross River after the registration of about 76 political parties nationwide.
