Details have emerged of a meeting between Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
With a week left in the transfer window, the 3-1 loss to Brighton underlined the need for squad changes.
Amorim has won just six of 14 games and is working to make his 3-4-2-1 system effective.
Ratcliffe, who owns 28.94% of the club, watched United’s recent 3-2 comeback win over Southampton.
After the match, he spent 20 minutes in the dressing room, including a conversation with Amorim.

According to the Athletic’s report, Ratcliffe mingled with the players and the coaching staff.
The meeting likely addressed transfers as United’s squad issues have become increasingly apparent.
The main purpose of Ratcliffe’s visit was to meet Amorim, in order to discuss the game and January window plans.
Diogo Dalot struggled again as a left wing-back, emphasising the need for a specialist in that role.
Talks have reached a serious stage, with Lecce for Denmark international Patrick Dorgu.
Another signing depends on player sales, with Marcus Rashford linked to a loan move to Barcelona.
Barcelona may first need to offload a player, in order to bring the Englishman in.

Amorim labeled his team “maybe the worst in United’s history” after a sixth home defeat this season.
“We have to acknowledge that to change,” he said, admitting the poor record hurts fans and himself.
He added, “We are the worst team in Manchester United’s history.
“Here you go: your headlines.”
It has been a season to forget for United fans, with the squad lacking the right culture.
Lack of quality across the squad is clear and the club will need to act in the market to put things right.
The communication between Ratcliffe and Amorim will need to stay healthy in the short and long-term.
Tough times to continue for United fans going ahead.
